Sugita Koki
Calligrapher, Artist
Born in Miyazaki Prefecture in March 1983, Sugita began calligraphy at the age of 22. He bases his work on the values of kendō (Japanese fencing), which he has practiced since the age of 6.
His works have been installed in shrines and temples in Japan, are used by Hilton and Cartier under the royal warrant of Monaco, and are also in the collections of museums overseas.
His calligraphy performances are highly acclaimed, and he has appeared at international gatherings such as the G20, serving as a source of great excitement.
Although he is most often thought of as a calligrapher, he is also an artist whose works raise social issues and explore numerous traditions and cultures.
