The theme for this year for Misohitomoji is "Between right now and now there is no now. In the moment of now, now is gone," or in other words, "Do it now."
It's been three years since I started researching tanka poetry and wanted to incorporate it into my daily life. Finally, I made the decision to take the plunge. I wanted to get out of the daily routine of putting off what I want to do, so I asked calligrapher Sugita Koki to write this tanka poem as our theme for this year.
His calligraphy has both strength and fragility, and he is also active in the world, mainly in the promotion of Japanese culture, calligraphy, and artistic activities. I believe that our goals are similar, and I am grateful to him for his willingness to accept our request.
We are planning to sell items designed with this calligraphy in the future.
